don't count your chickens (before they hatch/are hatched)

= don’t make future plans based on something that has not happened yet
    don't think that because you have 12 eggs, you are going to get 12 chicks!
    don't assume that something will happen the way you expect
    don't make plans based on your assumptions
    don't be hasty in evaluating one's assets
    said to emphasize that you cannot depend on something happening before it has happened
    don't count on things if you don't have them yet
    you should not count on something before it happens
    you should not expect all of your hopes to be fulfilled
    don't spend your money before you win the lottery
    don't feel victorious before you undertake the challenge
    don't rely on something you are unsure about
    making plans based on assumptions can lead to disappointment
